Pumpkintown General Store in Pickens

We had a great breakfast here. The pancakes are very big so don't order two. They give big portions, at least for breakfast. Neat atmosphere as it's an old store and now it's a cafe.

My husband and I were on vacation and accidently stumbled upon this place. We both had hamburgers, I had the steak and he had the sandwich. Best food on our trip.!! Everything homemade and fresh. The coleslaw was so good i got a second side. The service was wonderful and the Owner made us feel like Family. We will definately be going back next year.

A great, small, locally owned restaurant located between Pickens and Table Rock State Park. Very friendly staff, good service, and great food. Their burgers are to die for!

The food was fantastic. We really lucked out in stopping at the Pumpkintown General Store's restaurant.I had a simple burger and onion rings, all delicious and when I ordered, I thought that it would be a small hamburger because the price was under $2.50 for the burger itself!It was huge, especially in consideration of the price, 6.6 ounces of hand made hamburger! You rarely find a delicious meal in comfortable seating for a price so totally reasonable. I liked it!

I eat breakfast there each Saturday. I enjoy the old country cafe. Food is good. A community meeting place.

Amazing food for an incredible price. The level of customer service is excellent. It doesn't matter if it is your first time in or a regular customer on a first name basis with the staff, they are all extremely nice and cheerful to all the guests.

I had a delicious breakfast biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheese. This is just a simple country restaurant where locals eat.

Just moving up to town and love it here. Foods great and the service matches. Only order 1 pancake unless your really hungry they are the size of the plates

I walked in thinking a club sandwich.. but omg the amazing smells of this diner .. I had to try a burger. It was perfect. Service was great. Drinks refilled fast. Just a great little place that remembers how too do it right.

Great little diner atmosphere. Truly a spot where the locals meet to start their day and chew the fat. We had breakfast biscuits and hashbrowns. All was delicious and a great value.

We ate breakfast there on a Saturday morning the food was great and the service was good too and the kids even got free candy. It was a great experience!

Great family place amazing workers to make you feel at home brighten your day up make a few jokes have a little fun just a positive eating environment. There food is good in my opinion sadly they only do breakfast and lunch I'm pretty sure. They do Dine in or to go. There food is decent priced one person can eat under ten dollars and be satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food they get. Option wise I know they have hamburgers hot dogs hamburger steak stuff a long those lines.

The food and service was great, the owner came to our table and made sure everything was good. I hadn't been there in years he told us about the renovations and how they use aged beef for their burgers. I will be going back when I am in town!

Everything from the cheeseburgers, hotdogs, grilled chicken salad, and chicken strips are awesome! Service is always good! It has an old country store feel. Expect it to be usually crowded but my family loves to go there. I've yet to try breakfast, but I have heard it's amazing too!

Stop by for a quick lunch. While on our way to Table Rock. Service was good . Staff friendly and very busy. My Children tenders good and fresh. My fries a little under cooked for my taste but my husband enjoyed them. I would definitely return to try the breakfast also.

Really great food. Locals love this spot for breakfast and lunch. In the mornings check out the gravy biscuits and country ham. For lunch the burgers are amazing. Lots of guys from my work stop here daily.

The food was good. Not great, but satisfactory. I ordered a tomato sandwich plate. Had to say it twice so the waitress could understand. The plate comes with fries and Cole slaw. I received it without slaw. Never had anyone check on us to report the issue, but the ticket was written as a sandwich with fries, so I did not worry about it. Someone was going around filling drinks and passed our table twice. When I went to pay, was asked how was it and my reply was "it was OK" with no response from the person who happened to be our waitress.Just a heads up...if you are worried about COVID, this is not the place to go. No masks are worn by staff or patrons. Menus are still passed from one to another without sanitizing. The condiments on the table had not been cleaned off in a while. There is also no separation of tables or outdoor seating. Overall a good place to visit, but not a lot of options in the area either.

Cheap, good eats. Very friendly staff. I had grits, eggs, and biscuit with gravy.

Best Hamburgers In South Carolina!!

My best friend and I went here for breakfast before a day of antiquing in pickens. Shes been here 1000s of times and wanted me to try it. I'm glad she did. We went about 1030ish and we went right in and say down. The waitress was nice and prompt. The food came out quick. The pancakes are big and homefries are cut and deep fried. The whole thing was DELICIOUS. It was cheap with what's in the pics and a tea and coffee is was only 17.00!They stop breakfast at 11. And they have a nice lunch menu. Think about a small country store lunch simple. I will definitely be back!

We found good folks happy to welcome us and the best hot dog chili we ever ate. Took a quart with us when we left. Also got good reception on our phones.

Spoke to the owner who was so nice, and everyone just friendly with hometown atmosphere.

Omg. Food so good it will make your tongue slap your brains out. The employees and owner have the best attitude and personality i have ever seen. This place is worth the drive from anywhere. I give it 50 stars. Ill be going back. Good prices too. Also they have a big event in october.

Very friendly staff. Hearty breakfast at a reasonable price. It's everything you would expect for a local breakfast and lunch joint. Where else can you get an omelette and a new fan belt all at the same location? I rated 4 stars out of 5 because my hasbrowns were seriously overcooked, but I will go back.

Remarkably well prepared food for mainly a short order place. Cole slaw is excellent--not too heavy on the mayo. Hamburger steak was huge & not at all greasy. Tasty pork bbq as well. Good job with limited menu.

First time in this restaurant. The General Store is a misnomer as it is a restaurant. I'm sure it was a general store at one time but now you can enjoy a delicious sandwich or salad there. This is not a meat and three but I wish there was that option. Maybe in the future. The seating was very comfortable. I had great conversation with my friend in a mostly quiet atmosphere. It just was a pleasant experience and I plan on returning.

Best food ever

If you are looking for the best club sandwich you've ever tasted or a hamburger with honest to God fresh meat, this is the place. Full of smiles and good fresh food. Flat grill cooking, very clean, campy, fun place to get great sandwiches. Just ask; they can probably fix it for you. Local favorite.

Local gem!! It's off the beaten path a little, but if you happen to be passing through this area and wonder if driving a little out of the way to try it is worth it? It is. I had a bacon cheeseburger plate which came with slaw, the sweet kind which I'm not a big fan of, and a huge serving of crinkle cut fries. The burger was a great big fresh beef homemade kind; the kind that needs a bunch of napkins, with two slices of bacon. $8 for the plate which ain't bad!
